“Memory Field (The Journey Part Two)” — Earlier Release Date

Calendar Post Image Memory Field

Thomas Alexander Kolbe’s new ambient release Memory Field (The Journey Part Two) is coming earlier to you… and with a second track on it! The release will appear on all major streaming platforms worldwide on June 20, 2025. And is now available on Funkwhale and Bandcamp (links below).

This two-track release includes:

  1. Memory Field (The Journey Part Two) – 08:16
  2. Silent Distance – 09:37

Both tracks continue Kolbe’s approach of refined acoustic design, shaped by research into auditory perception and memory. Rather than presenting dramatic shifts or crowded arrangements, each track builds gradually through subtle harmonic motion and carefully layered tones.

About the Tracks

Memory Field (The Journey Part Two) is a composition that moves slowly and deliberately. Harmonic structures anchor the sound while soft textures and delicate delays unfold gradually. The track evokes personal recollections through sonic cues that align with natural auditory processing. It’s a piece that asks for uninterrupted attention and rewards close listening with quiet emotional depth.

Silent Distance serves as a complementary second track. Its focus lies in the space between sounds—measured silences, slow development, and minimal gestures create a sound field that encourages reflection. The track emphasizes restraint and balance, reinforcing the release’s overall atmosphere of calm clarity.

Production and Focus

Kolbe’s production avoids unnecessary complexity, instead giving each sonic detail the space to register clearly. Echoes, delays, and reverbs are applied with precision, guided by principles from auditory psychology. The tracks don’t guide the listener toward a narrative; they allow for individual emotional association, encouraging memory to arise naturally.

This two-track format replaces the originally planned one-track maxi single. The decision expands the listening experience while keeping the focused, undistracted character of the release intact.
